benefits of drinking water
  • It lubricates the joints.
  • It forms saliva and mucus.
  • It boosts skin health and beauty.
  • It cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues.
  • It regulates body temperature.
  • It flushes body waste.
  • It helps maintain blood pressure.
  • The airways need it.

There are many different opinions on how much water you should be drinking every day. Health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon. This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember.
Since we absorb water best when our stomachs are not full of food, drinking heavy amounts of water during or directly after a meal dilutes the body’s natural juices that aid in digestion. It is recommended to drink one glass of water 30 minutes before, during, and after a meal—but no more.
